DEVELOPMENT DIARY SEVENTEEN: COBWEB

Welcome back to my seventeenth development diary for Cobweb! This week I will discuss the changes that have been made to the game over the final two weeks of development.

Over the past two weeks our team has been busy ensuring that our game is polished to a high standard to help ensure that we met the deadline for submission. To ensure that our game was as polished as possible for final submission our team worked to fixed the following issues:

  • Finalizing & Implementing All Remaining Art Assets.

  • Implementing Final Sound Effects.

  • Implementing & Fixing Tutorial Prompt Slider.

  • Fixing Level Editor Saving Bug.

  • Game Balancing.

  • Polishing All Aspects Of UI.

Overall, our team was able to successfully submit a game that was very difficult to complete within the timeframe provided due to the large scope of the project. Although the game was difficult to complete, our team was able to submit a very large polished slice of our game that was very well received by not only our lecturers but also the industry professionals that attended our presentation. Not all aspects of our game were implemented before submission as our team intends to polish the following features and mechanics of the game before it is released onto the Android Market Store:

  • Pattern Rework.

  • Boss Rework.

  • Polished Art Assets & Animations.

  • More Unique Sound Effects.

  • Game Balancing & Testing.

As it can be seen, our team plans to continue to work on Cobweb over the course of the following months in hopes of completing Cobweb to a high standard of polish!

Along with final submission, our team was able to present our game to a panel of industry professionals. After presenting Cobweb, our team received invaluable feedback that ranged from marketing strategies, future level designs and also future boss battles that the player may encounter. Overall, our team received a range of feedback that will without a doubt be implemented into the future builds of Cobweb!

As the development stage of the Major Productions class has concluded, the weekly development diaries will now be moved to monthly updates to help showcase more major improvements. If you wish to check out our final submission of Cobweb, it can be viewed and downloaded here.

Don't forget, if you have any feedback, comments or general questions please don't hesitate to comment below or send me an email.

Until Next Time,

Angie Harvey
